The Anti-Violence Worker
Police in Chicago conducted a search warrant in Humboldt Park Friday morning and reportedly found Jerel Taylor, 30, a full-time worker for a safe street patrol and also works for the Ceasefire anti-violence group. Taylor was found on act naked under a bed with $50,000 cash on the floor, with suspected narcotics and a loaded gun on the kitchen windowsill. According to CWB Chicago, Judge Mary Marubio ordered him to pay $500 in bail to get out of jail.
Prosecutors claimed that a woman seated on the bed told officers there was no one else in the room, but the police reportedly saw Taylor’s feet sticking out from under the bed and “removed him”. Moreover, officers found suspected heroin next to his pants, and more crack was allegedly found on a bedside table, along with Taylor’s driver’s license.

His attorney said he lives in the home with his mom, sister, and brother, so he may not be responsible for the items the police said they found in the apartment. Taylor is scheduled to be in court again on Friday for another hearing.
