New Jersey’s ANCHOR Program

The Affordable NJ Communities for Homeowners & Renter (ANCHOR) program aims to reduce the financial burden of property taxes and has been confirmed by Governor Phil Murphy and the New Jersey State legislature. The program provides $1,500 in aid to approximately 1.2 million homeowners and up to $450 for around 900,000 renters.

To qualify for the stimulus check, homeowners with an income of $150,000 or less will receive $1,500, while those earning between $150,000 and $250,000 will receive $1,000, according to a report published in MARCA.

Meanwhile, renters with an income of $150,000 or less will receive $450. These payments will be based on people’s 2019 income. Eligible applicants can expect to receive a check or direct deposit by May 2023.

Who are Qualified to Receive the Rebate?

Both homeowners and renters can apply, but the application process varies for each group. Renters can apply online or by sending a paper application through the mail, but not over the phone, and they do not require an ANCHOR ID or a PIN. Homeowners, on the other hand, require an ANCHOR ID or a PIN, and they can apply online, through the mail or by phone. They can also call (877) 658-2972 for more information.

Other payments are available for South Carolina, Sonoma County, California, and Massachusetts. However, for those residing in New Jersey, the deadline to apply for the ANCHOR program is midnight tonight, and every resident will need to send their applications either online, by phone, or through the mail.
