The Electronic Benefits Transfer or known as EBT cards was created after food stamp coupons proved to be too expensive to manufacture, distribute, and destroy. Hence, the United States government determined to move to an electronic system in their bid to diminish fraud, with all states implementing the new scheme by last year.
EBT is the method of benefit distribution that enables beneficiaries of CalFresh, CalWORKs, and other programs to access their cash and food benefits by utilizing an EBT card that functions much like a debit card. The EBT holders can also utilize their cards to purchases online at Safeway, Amazon, Walmart, and other places.
Free Admission With EBT Cards and Discounts
According to Marca, the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), which administers EBT in California, obtains technical services from the Office of System Integration (OSI). Applications for benefits are assessed by each county. Once the eligibility is approved, the county relays the data to the state’s EBT vendor, which processes it prior to distributing it to recipients’ EBT accounts.
EBT holders are qualified for either free admission with EBT cards or discounted services to more than 1,000 museums nationwide through a method called Museums of All. To avail of free admission with EBT cards or discounted services, you just need to present your EBT card and a photo ID. To locate which museums near you are participating in this program, you just need to visit the official Museums for All website and check through their search engine.
