A Mother in Texas Was Sentenced To 60 Years in Prison After Her Partner Killed Their Infant Son By Beating Him to Death.

A Texas woman was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Thursday for not intervening in her boyfriend’s physical abuse of both her infant son and the boy’s elder sister. 25-year-old Christy Wedgeworth was convicted of two counts of injuring a child through “omission,” by not stopping her abusive boyfriend.

29-year-old Joshua Deshaun Lowe was convicted of capital murder previously and sentenced to life for beating an infant named Javonte Neeley, aged 11 months, to death. One of his patterns was striking the baby while wearing boxing gloves.

Neeley was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital in Bowie County, Texas, on July 11, 2021, as previously reported.

Lowe told medical personnel that the child had choked on a hot dog upon arrival, as stated by an arrest affidavit obtained by the Texarkana Gazette.

But doctors have noted that Neeley had several serious physical injuries, including severe trauma to the head and multiple broken bones in various stages of repair. Hospital workers called the authorities. Lowe allegedly claimed that he dropped the infant after the child threw up on him, stating that the baby then fell and hit his head on the table.

The affidavit said that Lowe used a doll to show how he dropped it (Javontae). He dropped the doll one or two feet in the air. But this demonstration did not explain the boy’s vast array of injuries, which were at least seven to ten days older than the injury to the head, stated by the affidavit.

None of Lowe’s statements stood up to any serious scrutiny.

A doctor from the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock said to the police that Javontae was suffering from injuries that include“abusive head trauma, subdural hemorrhage, cerebral edema, retinal hemorrhages, healing rib fractures (five separate ribs), and bruising, (facial scalp, ear, cheek, chest, back and extremity), According to a report from TXK Today. The doctor reported that the child’s brain and eye bleeding were consistent with being violently shaken, beaten, and then thrown onto a hard surface.

Then, there are Wedgeworth’s statements to the authorities. She reportedly stated to the authorities that she had seen Lowe abuse both of her kids on multiple occasions. The affidavit reportedly stated that she told the police that Lowe hit her son in the face at least ten times while wearing gloves used for boxing. She also confirmed to the police that Javontae had suffered a dislocated shoulder recently, according to the affidavit. However, she said the couple did not seek medical assistance because Lowe had “reset” the infant’s shoulder.

But Javontae’s shoulder wasn’t dislocated. His arm was broken, and the doctors said any attempts to reset the arm only made the injury worse, the doctors reportedly told the police.

The evidence of Christy Wedgeworth’s complete disregard for the safety of her children was overwhelming, Bowie County Assistant District Attorney Katie Carter said, according to TXK Today on Friday. Justice wouldn’t be served without the service of the men and women on this jury as well as those who served on Joshua Lowe’s jury.
