A 77-Year-Old Grandmother to Brutally Stabbed to Death Inside Gated Community, Atlanta Murder Suspect Ran Away With Victim’s Car

Police personnel in Georgia have arrested the man they say stabbed an elderly woman to death at her home inside a gated community. The alleged person, Antonio Brown, 23, was arrested in connection with the death of 77-year-old Eleanor Bowles, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens announced during a press conference Monday.

Eleonor Bowles, the victim, was found stabbed to death at her home Saturday, Dec. 10, inside the Paces West neighborhood, a gated community in the wealthy Buckhead area of Atlanta.  According to Mayor Dickens’ statement, a resident spotted Mr. Brown and contacted the Atlanta Police Department, who were able to make an arrest.

Surveillance footage was released by the Police from a neighbor’s security camera exposing a man getting into a Lexus SUV that belonged to Bowles. Deputy Charles Hampton declared that he entered the complex on foot but on how he bypassed the security gate is still under investigation, so they are still combing through video to see how he accessed those gates.

According to a published post by Law And Crime, police indicated that the suspect may have been trying to steal the elderly woman’s car according to the investigation. The Atlanta Police Homicide Commander Lt. Germain Dearlove stated that the motive appears to be a crime interrupted and it is to be discerned that the individual attempted to steal the vehicle the moment Ms. Bowles may have encountered him.

The arrest of Brown within 24 hours of the image being released, according to local news station WXIA. According to the interview, Dearlove stated that the security footage was taken at or around 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police officers were responding to a call to the house at around 5:50 p.m. later that day. Atlanta Police said that upon arrival, officers located a 77-year-old female victim inside the residence who was not alert, conscious, or breathing and had sustained multiple lacerations. Bowles was pronounced deceased on the scene. Michael Bowles, the son of the victim Bowles discovered her death while visiting her for the holidays.
