Harold Reid Jr. Killed Woman In Case Of Mistaken Identity

Harold Reid Jr. 78-year-old North Carolina man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in a fatal case of mistaken identity.

On Monday in Davie County Superior Court, Harold Reid Jr. pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of Quintia Miller 26 years old on October 3, 2022. Moreover, Reid also pleaded no match to four unrelated sexual crimes including a first-degree sex offense and two counts of indecent liberties with a minor.

His urges to kill Miller because of those sexual charges thrown at him say authorities. On October 3, 2022,  The Davie County Sheriff’s Office said in a previous news release, the Charlotte Observer reports said that on October 3, 2022, Harold Reid Jr. was going to be tested for a first-degree sexual offense and indecent liberties with a minor.

Authorities discovered that Reid was heading to the Rowan Pointe Apartments in Mocksville where Miller was also staying there with a family, while Reid is looking for a woman who had indicted him of molesting her as a child several years ago to stop her from testifying against him, the sheriff’s office said.

The Incident Of The Crime On How Miller Meet Harold Reid Jr.

Miller’s family said to  GoFundMe that Millers was at the bus stop waiting for a school bus with her 6-year-old son, Kamari, and was heading back to her family’s apartment when she encountered Reid.

Harold Reid Jr. mistook Miller for Shavonne Barnes, the person he was looking for. Then he confronted her and fatally shot her, the sheriff’s office said.

According to Fox 8 report the officers with the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the sheriff’s office occurred to be at the complex at that time for an unrelated matter when they heard gunshots around the area.  They immediately brought Harold Reid Jr. into custody.

Barnes stated that she saw Miller lying face down while Reid was lying on top of her and she also said that the attack should have never been Miller it should be here, “the bullet was meant for me” Barnes said.

Barnes claimed that Reid had molested her as a child. Barnes already knew that when Reid was released,  his goal was to kill her and Reid made it very clear due to his actions. Reid said to Barnes that he was coming for her while he was lying on the ground.

Barnes said, “Not Reid violate me, but he’s also taken an innocent life because he’s a cowardly man.”

Miller’s family is still shocked by her tragic death and a family member said that Miller was a kind person.  Finally, Reid was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.
