Former US President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, were reportedly “shocked” by news of his indictment on around 30 counts last week, despite being aware of the possibility of criminal charges in Manhattan.

The couple was reportedly going about their daily lives as usual, dining with a group of people on the same day the indictment was announced, and supporters at his private club were giving him thumbs-up signs to show their support.
The charges against the former president relating to an alleged hush money payment he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Trump’s supporters have rallied around him, with many calling it a political witch hunt. While some have held pro-Trump signs on the road leading to Mar-a-Lago, others have expressed concerns that he may not get a fair trial in New York.
One political source close to Trump suggested that he thinks the indictment will portray him as a victim.
Despite some speculation that Trump may resist surrendering to authorities, he was seen boarding a private flight to New York on Monday, where his attorneys said he would appear in court the following day. Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg, a former member of the Florida state Senate, said that Trump had not expected the indictment and was experiencing a mix of emotions, including nervousness, defiance, and anger.
Aronberg also said that Trump was worried about appearing weak compared to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who may assist in extradition.
In response to rumors about Trump’s mood, a spokesperson for the former president cautioned that those talking about it had no idea what they were talking about and were “simply lying to make it seem like they know what’s going on.”
The charges against Trump come after years of scrutiny and investigations, although he has managed to avoid being charged until now.
