NEW YORK — A Donald Trump supporter protesting the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation into the former president, according to a court official, pulled a knife on a family with two small children outside Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday.

Three bystanders told POLITICO that the man and woman with two strollers accidentally bumped into the Trump supporter while crossing the intersection of Hogan Place and Centre Street shortly after 4:00 p.m. The female protester, who held a sign reading “I support Trump, do you?” According to eyewitnesses, “began arguing with the couple before pulling out a blade about 6 inches long and waving it at the family.”

“As the verbal confrontation continued, Angelica Rucker pulled a knife from her right side belt hip area and began menacing one of the complainants with the knife,” a court spokesperson said.

According to bystanders, court officers who were standing outside the building rushed over, pulled out their guns, and ordered the woman to drop the knife. She was taken into custody without incident.

Nobody was hurt. Rucker, who could not be reached for comment immediately, was arrested and charges are pending, according to a court spokesperson.

“The court officers were standing on the corner and within 20 seconds they were here and she had dropped the knife,” one bystander, who asked not to be identified due to his job, said. “The woman yelled, ‘Knife, knife,’ and the court officers swooped down like Voltron on the Trump supporter,” a bystander said.

The altercation occurred after Trump urged supporters to protest the investigation and predicted “potential death and destruction” if he is charged in connection with a 2016 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

So far, substantial support for Trump has not materialized.

The only protester outside the courthouse on Tuesday was a Trump supporter. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the grand jury usually hears evidence in the case. Outside the courthouse last week, activists clamoring for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to indict Trump outnumbered the president’s supporters.

The protester’s name, age, and other personal information were not immediately released by police or court officials.
