Las Vegas Man Smashed Woman’s Car With An Ax With A Child Inside

A Las Vegas man was arrested after he allegedly used an ax to damage a stranger’s car, while a child was inside, according to reports.

Christopher Vera 33 years old was arrested on Monday and charged with burglary of a motor vehicle, assault, child abuse, and causing more than $5,000 worth of damage to a vehicle, according to FOX 5 Las Vegas news. On Monday, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call of a person with a knife near a home at about 4:20 p.m.

According to the police, the caller reported that a man was damaging her vehicle with what seemed to be an ax. When police reached the area and saw the vehicle that had sustained major damage, and when they looked for Vera, he was located inside his house. Vera agreed to step out of his home on his own and unarmed.

But when officers informed him to walk toward them, he instead started pacing back and forth in front of his home. After two minutes, he walked backward toward the police and was apprehended. Police said Vera claimed that he was attempting to rescue a child inside the vehicle, which is why he was hitting it with an ax.

Woman Has No Relation With The Las Vegas Man

The woman informed police she had no relationship with Vera, and at one point she was in her garage and heard him inside his place screaming. Because of Vera’s behavior, the woman started to pack up some of her things and her child and placed them in the vehicle. While the woman still gathering her things, the woman turned and allegedly caught Vera swinging an ax at her car with the child inside. The woman then reportedly grabbed her child and headed back inside her house.
