Florida Substitute Teacher Arrested After Inappropriately Touching Students

According to  Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, Wolfgang Sprenger, 83 years old, was arrested and charged following an investigation into the allegations of molesting elementary students. On January 31, a Hernando Elementary School employee told the school resource deputy that a substitute teacher may have inappropriately touched some young students. The Citrus County School District immediately terminate Sprenger from his position as a Florida substitute teacher and the sheriff’s office launched its investigation into the allegations.

The sheriff’s office’s exceptional victims unit identified numerous juvenile victims, as well as several juvenile witnesses. All the victims of Spencer were interviewed and said their Florida substitute teacher had touched them inappropriately. Moreover, detectives also obtained other supporting evidence of the victim’s statements.

Sprenger Was Arrested And Face Multiple Charges

On Thursday Sprenger was arrested after following the investigation. The Florida substitute teacher was charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child less than 12, four counts of lewd and lascivious conduct, and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. This case shows how a predator can and will work themselves into a position of trust to gain access to children,” Sheriff Mike Prendergast said in a statement that the Florida substitute teacher disobeyed the trust of the children he was supposed to be a teacher and the trust of the community placed in him. A classroom is supposed to be a nurturing and secure environment, not a playground for a predator like Sprenger. I hope this conviction will be the starting point on a journey of healing for Sprenger’s victims Prendergast added.

Currently, Florida substitute teacher, Sprenger is being detained at the Citrus County Detention Facility without any bond.
