Several US states are planning to send out some financial relief checks to their residents this year.

The final federal stimulus checks were mailed out in 2021 and so far there are no federal financial support plans announced. However, some states stepped in and filled the void with their stimulus check payments in 2022. But you may not be aware that a handful of those state stimulus payments are still being sent in 2023.
Here Are Some Of The States That Still Offers Relief checks This 2023
Here are a few states that still have 2023 payments on their schedule and the states that still have payments coming this year.
- California stimulus payments or known as “Middle-Class Tax Refunds” up to $1,050
The end of the California Middle-Class Tax Refund of more than $9 billion has been issued to more than 7 million people since the middle of 2022. Only few are left to obtain up to $1,050 in funding. For anyone who has not yet received their payment, the final payment will be given by 22 February 2023.

Idaho tax refund of up to $600
The state has been giving residents a tax refund of up to $600. The money should have been allocated by Thanksgiving but delays mean some residents are yet to get the relief checks. The state government says refund timeframes are seven to eight weeks for e-filed returns and ten to eleven weeks for paper returns. To check the status of Idaho tax refunds can be seen here.
- Massachusetts UBI programs
Chelsea is another place trialing UBI programs. The biggest on this list, 2,000 people will get between $200 and $400. It has been in place since November. A trial of similar plans was used during the covid-19 pandemic and was deemed a success.
- Michigan $180 rebates
Governor Gretchen Whitmer plans to repay tax-paying residents with a $180 rebate thanks to the state’s budget surplus with billions of dollars that haven’t been spent. Michigan residents who filed taxes last year will be eligible to receive the money.
- Virginia’s $500 monthly for 24 months
Just 170 people in the city of Alexandria will be part of the trial. They will receive $500 monthly for 24 months with the first payments sent in January 2023.
- Wisconsin UBI program
The Madison Forward Fund is another UBI program in Madison County. 155 households will receive $500 a month for the year 2023.
