Guaranteed Basic Income Program In Massachusetts
Chelsea Eats, a guaranteed basic income program in Massachusetts, offers help to 600 to 700 residents to offset their high energy and food costs. The city will conduct a lottery on Wednesday, February 15 for the guaranteed basic income program.
Moreover, those who are selected for the program via lottery will get payments ranging from $200 and $400 monthly.
Who Will Be Eligible For The Guaranteed Basic Income Program
To be eligible for the guaranteed basic income program, Chelsea residents must have a household income that’s 30 percent less than the area median.
This is as follows:
- Household with one person: $29,450
- Household with two-person: $33,650
- Household with three-person: $37,850
- Household with four-person: $42,050
- Household with five-person: $45,450
- Household with six-person: $48,800
- Household of seven-person: $52,150
The monthly benefit will also depend on family size. For instance, households of one will get $200, households of two will obtain $300, and households of three or more get $400 per month. Moreover, keep in mind that applications must have been submitted by the January 6 deadline to be considered.
Other Details Of The Lottery
The city continues to review applications, qualifiers will be chosen randomly. The Priority of the guaranteed basic income program will be given to those with “children ages under 18, disabled residents, veterans, seniors 65 years old or older, families who are ineligible for other forms of government assistance, families with a female-identifying head of household, families with a member self-identifying with a minoritized/marginalized gender-identity,” according to a release from city officials.
Those who are eligible can watch the lottery drawing on Wednesday at 6 pm live on the City of Chelsea’s Facebook page. Additionally, participating residents will get the cash for a total of three months.
Also, an exact date as to when the payments will go out has been yet provided, but the city previously told The U.S. Sun that payments were expected to go out this month.
