A Biden administration’s initiative to help American family lower their energy costs.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The Biden administration’s efforts to distribute rebates to communities around the United States through the Inflation Reduction Act. President Joe Biden aims to reduce at least half of the United States’ greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. This could affect two million homes by replacing furnaces with a heat pump for instance, which would make the country less dependent on fossil fuels as well.
The Proposed Rebates Amount
The rebates will range between $2,000 and $4,000 for the homes that will be able to receive a whole-house payment for energy efficiency retrofits. Moreover, multifamily buildings can reach rebates of up to $400,000. The payment will also go directly to the states to help them provide these rebates. A home that reduced energy by 20% or more will obtain up to $2,000, while those who save 35% or more can get up to $4,000. Among other qualified rebates include electric clothes dryers and stoves, on top of the insulation and air sealing measures.
