Supplemental Security Income recipients are to receive $914 payments starting February 1 after not receiving payment this month.
SSI Update: $914 Direct Payments Coming in Feb. 1
Social Security Administration’s SSI is to help aged, blind, and disabled people who have little to no income at all. This payment is for them to afford basic everyday items and goods, including food and shelter.
The reason recipients are set to receive their SSI payment is that they received two payments in December 2022, one on Dec. 1, and the second on Dec. 30. The latter served as their January payment. All eligible individuals will receive their SSI payment on Feb. 1. According to SSA, couples are to receive $1,371, and $458 for essential persons.
Higher Rate for SSI Payments Thanks to COLA
According to a published post by Washington Examiner, 2023 SSI payments are expectedly higher due to a cost of living adjustment from the SSA. This year’s payment will be 8.7% higher to reflect the adjustment.
SSI payments are always released monthly summing up to 12 payments issued by the SSA every year. There will be instances wherein there are two releases in a month. The reason for this is when the first day of a month occurs on a weekend or a holiday, the payments are given on the last business day of the previous month.
In 2023, there will be double payments issued in the months of March, June, September, and December. The reason for this is that these months start on either a weekend or a holiday.
