Arizona woman charged with 43 counts of animal cruelty after complaints of animal hoarding at two homes.
According to authorities, dozens of dogs have been seized from an “animal hoarding” complaint in Mohave County after they were found in two homes where floors were “covered” with urine, feces, and trash.
Animal Hoarding In Arizona
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said Betty Lynne Fuchsel, 77, was arrested on January 11. Fuchsel faces 43 charges of animal cruelty after complaints of animal hoarding at two homes led police to discover the residences were covered with trash and animal waste.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement Division investigated animal hoarding at two different residences in Dolan Springs, both of which were utilized by Fuchsel. Several complaints were received from the department that animals ran around at large and attacked livestock in the area.
Fuchsel Fails To Appear In Court
In a press release, the sheriff’s office said that Fuchsel received several citations for the violations and failed to appear in court or comply, ultimately leading to her being taken into custody on January 11. During her arrest, the Sheriff’s office secured and executed search warrants for both of Fuchsel’s residences.
Upon entering both premises, police reported witnessing the floors covered with feces, garbage, and urine. Police said several dogs were locked up inside the residence and in vehicles on the property without food or water.
The sheriff’s office seized 43 dogs, which were malnourished and in different stages of neglect. Many dogs were taken to receive emergency veterinarian supervision, while all animals were handed over to the Mohave County Animal Shelter.
