Rebates are now being issued via direct deposits or paper checks the maximum refund amount is $800. Hence, you receive an $800 rebate if your tax liability is greater than that.
The Maximum Rebate Cap Is $80032
The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) has started issuing 2022 Individual Income Tax rebates to qualified taxpayers. Up to a certain limit, the refund sum is determined by a person’s tax liability for 2021. The SCDOR has set the refund ceiling at $800, as specified in the bill establishing the rebates which are most taxpayers may receive.
After deducting your credits from the amount of individual income tax you owe, the amount that remains is your tax burden. If your tax obligation is less than $800, your rebate will be equal to that sum. You will get an $800 rebate if your tax burden is greater than or equal to the $800 maximum.
When And How Will The Rebates be Released?
If you submit your 2021 SC Individual Income Tax return (SC 1040) by October 17, 2022, it was already begun issuing your rebate and you will have it by the end of the year. Furthermore, you can check the status of your rebate online just go to dor.sc.gov/rebate-2022 to get started. You’ll need line 10 from your 2021 SC 1040 and your SSN or ITIN.
Those who chose to file the returns after the original October 17 extension deadline then you will have until February 15, 2023, to file the returns in order to be eligible for a rebate. Eligible taxpayers who submit applications between October 18, 2022, and February 15, 2023, will have the rebate in March 2023.
If you received your 2021 refund via direct deposit, the SCDOR will use the same bank account to issue your rebate by direct deposit, unless you inform of a change in banking information by November 1. In releasing paper checks it will be issued if you are notified of a change in banking information before or by November 1. Married couples who filed jointly for 2021, Individual Income Tax returns will accept only one rebate.
