A 2010 Cold Case Murder

Fayetteville, North Carolina, police arrested an ex-Fort Bragg soldier on Tuesday in link to a murder case back in 2010 that went cold, according to police. The department’s Homicide Unit charged  Joshua Aaron Richardson 41-year-old with the first-degree murder of Terrance Omar Plummer Jr. At the time of the murder, Richardson was an active-duty soldier stationed at Fort Bragg when Plummer was stabbed and died on May 31, 2010.

Richardson was arrested at his home in Houston, Texas, and booked into the Harris County Texas jail, where he is awaiting extradition to North Carolina, police said in a release.

Back In 2010 Scene Of The Crime

On Monday, May 31, 2010, Fayetteville police responded to a call of a probable breaking and entering at a home on the 300 block of Rhew Street at nearly 8:40 a.m. Officers found Plummer, lifeless inside the house. It was determined Plummer was stabbed several times.

The department says forensic evidence was collected and preserved but Plummer’s death went unsolved for more than a decade. With the Advancements in forensic technology, police said they were finally able to identify Richardson as a suspect.

Several agencies assisted in the investigation and apprehension of Richardson, including the US Army’s Criminal Investigations Division at Fort Bragg, the Wharton County Texas Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, and the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
