A man was fatally shot by South Carolina deputies after he stabbed a K-9 police dog during a standoff, however, the dog is expected to recover from the attack.

Man Was Shoot After Stabbing K9 Police Dog
According to Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, they responded at Darius L.J. Holcomb’s home to serve an arrest warrant when the situation escalated. Holcomb threatened the police with a knife and then barricaded himself in a bedroom. Holcomb’s family in the house was evacuated from the home before deputies began negotiating with him. After both negotiations and rip gas failed, then deputies eventually broke into the room where Holcomb had blockaded himself.
A K-9 deputy was among the authorities that entered the room and Holcomb stabbed the dog repeatedly, according to Cpl. John Burgess with the sheriff’s office. In response, at least one deputy shot Holcomb was struck and declared dead on the scene Burgess says.
The K9 Dog Is Expected To Recover
The brave injured K9’s name is Astro. Luckily, K9’s harness protected the dog from any puncture wounds and the pup is expected to fully recover, according to the sheriff’s office.
Moreover, the sheriff’s statement did not share any information on the arrest warrants or say whether Holcomb was the person wanted. The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.
