A 55-year-old woman was arrested in Steuben County after she illegally used food stamps, according to the results of the investigation.
Food Stamps or SNAP Benefits
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits is popularly known as “Food Stamps”. This program is to help struggling Americans in the country purchase nutritious food amid the pandemic and the soaring inflation rate that causes the increase in the prices of basic commodities.
In Steuben County, a 55-year-old woman was arrested after she illegally used her food stamps. The accused is identified as Lori Fazzary and investigation revealed that she used another person’s benefits card issued by DSS, according to a report published in Fingerlakes.
During the investigation, it was found that the illegal transaction of the woman happened on July 22. She is now facing misuse of food stamps, misuse of public assistance, and petit larceny. She was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges at a later date.

How To Use Your Food Stamps?
If you are a recipient of a Food Stamp, you have to make sure that you use it in a legal manner. Each state has assigned an agency or a department to oversee the implementation and distribution of Food Stamp. Each also has listed the eligible and prohibited items.
Generally, the Food Stamp can only be used to purchase nutritious food items and it is not allowed to be used to purchase beverages, alcohol, and the like.
