Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that each eligible child in the state will receive a one-time payment of $391 this month in food pandemic benefits.
$391 One-Time Payment
Texas is one of the states in the country that participates in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. This is intended for low-income families, persons with disabilities, seniors, and other individuals based on the qualifications set by the state and its governing agency.
Gov. Greg Abbott recently announced that each eligible child in the state will receive a one-time payment of $391. He also said, “Thanks to SNAP benefits provided by HHSC, Texans across the state continue to have access to nutritious food. By extending SNAP benefits for the month of December, we’re ensuring that every family is able to stay healthy and take care of their loved ones during this holiday season.”
According to a published article in My Paris Texas, around 1.6 million households in Texas will benefit from this program. Gov. Greg Abbott also said that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is providing more than $341.4 million.

HHSC Released a Statement
Wayne Salter, the HHSC deputy executive commissioner of Access and Eligibility Services, also said, “We’re proud to be supporting families in Texas so they can provide food to their children. Being well-nourished allows children to focus on learning rather than where their next meal will come from,” according to a published article in PROCLAIMERS.
Furthermore, HHSC received approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to extend the maximum, allowable amount of SNAP benefits to recipients based on family size, and all SNAP households will receive a minimum of $95 in emergency allotments. This additional emergency allotment should appear in recipients’ accounts by Dec. 31.
