Dad Arrested After Killing Wife In Front Of Kids
In New York, Stephen Giraldo, 36, a bus driver and a father was taken into custody and faces numerous criminal charges after admitting he purposefully ran over his wife, Sophia Giraldo with an SUV. Then he went out and stabbed Sophia while his children were sitting in the backseat of the car, watching.
According to announced on Wednesday, Stephen Giraldo will face the following criminal charges after admitting his crime: first and second-degree assault, second-degree attempted murder, second-degree reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon for seriously injuring his wife.
According to a criminal complaint filed by prosecutors, investigators received surveillance footage of Stephen Giraldo, approximately around 5:20 a.m. riding a white Ford Explorer near the intersection of Parsons Boulevard and Sanford Avenue in Queens.
NYC Father Kills Own Wife In Front Of Kids
According to a published post by Law and Crime, on December 27th, Stephen and Sophia’s children, ages 6, 9, and 11, were all reportedly in their Ford Explorer when Sophia walked in front of the car and ran over it, and was later stabbed by his husband.
Sophia was taken to a hospital in Queens in New York Presbyterian for treatment. Her injuries include “severe neurological damage, broken leg, and a stab wound through the liver” said the prosecutor. On January 12, Stephen Giraldo is currently scheduled to appear in court and faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison, if convicted.
The New York Daily News reported that prosecutors in Giraldo’s prosecution at Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday stated that it was Stephen Giraldo who called 911 after running down and stabbing his wife. “Stephen killed his wife,” prosecutors said. Stephen was also caught on Police camera footage, informing officers at the scene, “I killed my wife, arrest me.”
