In his fifth state address, Gov. Phil Murphy announced another extension to file for the $2 billion program. The deadline is set until Feb. 28 for eligible residents to complete the application. $2 million homeowners and renters are primed to receive $971 from the ANCHOR program. As of now, there are 1.2 million households who applied.
According to a post by NJ, homeowners will get $1,500 if their 2019 gross income reached up to $150,000. If their income is between $150,000 and $250,000 will get up to $1,000. And $450 for renters with 2019 gross incomes of $150,000 or less. You are eligible for this if you owned a house or condominium before Oct. 1, 2019, and paid property taxes. Qualifications and Procedures for the Application
Homeowners who were not able to receive notices about the application will need an ID number and PIN to apply. To get the numbers you can get the data from the state’s online system by entering your Social Security number and birth year. From there you can file for ANCHOR online. Next is for you to call the ANCHOR hotline at (888) 238-1233, but note that call volumes have been heavy and it can be hard to get through.
There are also options for tenants as they will not receive an ID and PIN. They should enter their taxpayer ID and answer the filing questions on the state’s system. You can also download an application form from the website and file it traditionally. Once complete, mail it to: ANCHOR Application, Revenue Processing Center, P.O. Box 636, Trenton, New Jersey 08646-0636.
