Sunday night, an elderly woman died in a house blazing with fire in Galveston, officials say.
House Burn Incident In Galveston
According to, Galveston Fire Department Chief Charlie Olsen that in the 3300 block of Avenue M near 34th Street at about 8 pm the Galveston Fire Department was called due to a fire report.
When they arrive A woman’s body was found lifeless on the first floor towards the back of the house. There was also a cat saved from the burned house.
The House Has No Fire Detector
Galveston Fire Department chief claimed that the home did not have an operating smoke detector, still, the cause of the fire was unknown and the woman’s identity was not released but fire officials described her as an elderly woman.
“smoke detectors do save lives,” Olsen said as he cannot emphasize enough. Additionally, fire officials said the woman lived in a home alone.
