Are You Qualified To Claim The Time Relief Check Worth $500? – 11 Days Left for The Upcoming Deadline
There are only 11 days remaining for thousands of Americans to apply for the one-time $500 relief checks. The deadline is December 31 for those qualified for the Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0 program, which will provide aid to 25,500 residents.
According to a published post by The US Sun, 5,000 residents got $500 in relief checks throughout the first round of payments. The payments are funded through a $ 14.68 million pot, which aims to provide Chicagoans who may have been left out of the Covid 19 Stimulus with some cash assistance.
Who Are Eligible?
To be eligible for the initial round of checks in the 2.0 program, applicants must be beyond 18 years old and currently reside in Chicago. As far as household income goes, it should be 300% of the Federal Poverty level. Moreover, dependents 17 years or above must be claimed on 2019 taxes. The person who must apply should be the same one who filed the tax return.
Second Round
Applications for the second round of payments for those who are undocumented residents or/and domestic workers were set on Tuesday, December 20. Those applicants must also be beyond 18 years old, currently reside in Chicago, and have a household income of 300% of the Federal Poverty level.
Recipients are selected through a lottery. Officials have warned that they will only accept one application per household and any duplicates will be rejected. Selected recipients can choose how they would like to receive the funds, which includes a prepaid debit card or bank transfer.
Officials might deliver all the funds by or before December 2023. Selected recipients will be notified about their applications one week after submitting their forms. Although, it may take longer for some applicants – such as domestic workers and undocumented residents, who will be informed within 30 days after their application is submitted.
The applications will only be available online until 5 pm on Saturday, December 31.
Other relief checks that can be claimed
Multiple other cities and states are offering relief checks before the year ends. Hawaii has been delivering checks worth up to $300 since the fall, which will be received after filing a 2021 tax return before December 31.
Recipients must have been living in Hawaii for at least nine months, haven’t been claimed as a dependent in the 2021 tax year, and haven’t spent time in jail for a “misdemeanant” during the same period. These are the requirements to qualify for the rebate.
In Idaho, full-time residents also have until December 31 to be eligible for $300 or $600 checks based on whether they filed their taxes individually or jointly. The checks may also be equal to 10% of a taxpayer’s 2020 income taxes if it is more than the pre-established amounts. The payments are expected to be delivered up until March 2023. Nonresidents and part-year residents are not qualified for the rebate.
