A 20-year-old woman was shot to death after she and her friends entered the wrong driveway in rural upstate New York on April 15.
One Mistake Cost Kaylin Her Life
Kaylin Gillis, a 20-year-old woman, was in a vehicle with three other friends looking for another friend’s house when a 65-year-old man named Kevin Monahan fired two shots from his porch, one of which struck the vehicle and Kaylin.
The 20-year-old woman was already fighting for her life after the group drove away from Monahan’s house. Her friends immediately looked for a signal to call emergency services in the nearby town, but the responders arrived too late, CNN reported.
On the other hand, Monahan claimed that he fired two shots after seeing several vehicles in the driveway, which made him afraid of what was happening, not realizing the bullets had struck the 20-year-old woman. He was charged with second-degree murder following Kaylin’s death.
