Meta Payment of $725 Million to Facebook Users

Facebook’s parent company Meta agreed to pay the affected Facebook users who used Facebook from May 24, 2007 to December 22, 2002 following lawsuits accusing the company of allowing the data to be accessible to third parties without permission.

According to Mashable SEA, Facebook users also claimed that before settling the Meta payment, Facebook did not enforce rules and monitor the issues about third parties accessing other users’ data.

These issues had already been raised with the company, but it repeatedly denied them, particularly allegations that Facebook allowed a data analytics firm called Cambridge Analytica to access the users’ data while working with Donald Trump’s campaign during the election.
