Despite his death sentence was vacated by the ruling of the Judge mainly because he is intellectual disable. A federal inmate is still trapped in Solitary Confinement of inmates waiting for a death sentence.
Inmate Bruce Webster, Intellectual Disable still in Death Row Confinement
This past week, a U.S. Prison Director conducted a regular inspection of the Prison in Terre Haute, Indiana. In the 12-by-7-foot cell Death Row Solitary Confinement, Bruce Webster is there. As my published article in US News.
Bruce Webster should not be in the Death Row Solitary Confinement because, on June 18, 2019, Senior Judge William T. Lawrence ruled that the new evidence and testimonies of mental health experts showed that Bruce Webster is intellectual disable making him ineligible for death sentence.
The Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Prisons haven’t transferred Webster from Death Row Confinement to a less restrictive detention cell.
Why is He still in the Death Row Confinement even though the Judgement is Final?
Justice Department officials stated that the Bureau of Prisons has considered deciding Bruce Webster’s label. There is still hesitance in transferring death row inmates from Death Row confinement to another less restrictive cell because of the nature of their cases. According to the published article of ABC News
The U.S. Government stated about Mean’s Ruling that the judgment is final and Mr. Webster is not subjected to a valid death sentence. Accountability to get Webster off death row Confinement relies on the Justice Department.
