The bonuses are from money saved by the school district through systemwide vacancies. This indicates that the school system doesn’t have to apply for additional funds to cover these bonuses. Bedell states that she’ll not take the bonus herself.
In addition, on the 28th day of December, a holiday for health insurance premiums will be announced, in which health care premiums will not be deducted from the employee’s wages on that day. This is due to the level of the health fund balance in the system.
Bedell, the superintendent, said, “I fully understand that bonuses are small tokens of appreciation, but it is meaningful to me and to the school board (Board of Education) to continue to find forms just to say ‘Thank you.'”
