$1,000 Bonus Checks Will Be Sent Out To Millions Tomorrow, Update On Stimulus
Only one day left before workers at a Maryland school district get an early present for Christmas in the form of a bonus payment of $1,000. This bonus for workers at Anne Arundel County Public Schools is intended as a payment that gets the full backing of the board of education.
According to a published post by Washington Examiner, the payment will be distributed based on a worker’s full-time equivalency, and it will be sent to all permanent workers aside from those on a leave of absence by Dec. 16, says AACPS. “No school system can be great without great people,” stated by the school’s superintendent, Dr. Mark Bedell in a letter to the staff of AACPS.
“As I said before, the work you do in the face of some stiff challenges is incredible. your role doesn’t matter in our school system, our students benefit every day from your dedication and passion. Please don’t ever forget that.”

This payment is funded from the cash that the school district saved from vacancies it experienced across the system, which means AACPS won’t need to request more funding to cover these bonuses. Although, Bedell himself won’t be accepting the bonus.
Workers were also informed of a healthcare premium holiday on Dec. 28, in which no healthcare premiums will be deducted from workers’ pay on that day. This is occurring because of the level of AACPS’s healthcare fund balance.“I fully realize that the bonus is a small gesture of appreciation. However, it is critically important to me and the Board of Education that we continue to find ways to simply say ‘Thank You,'” said the superintendent.
