New York man pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the First Degree for the premeditated fatal beating of Henry Hernandez, age 16, of Hempstead, whose remains were found in Centereach in March 2020, According to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.
The New York Man Pleads Guilty To His Crime
A New York man named John Mann IV, 20, of Centereach pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter of Henry Hernandez of Hempstead 16 years old. according to the announcement of Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney. Moreover, Hernandez’s skeletal remains were found in Centereach in March 2020, wrapped in plastic bags on the property of Mann’s neighbor. The Hernandez’s hands and feet had been tied with duct tape, and his head and mouth were also covered in duct tape.
Tierney said that the brutality ended the life of the young victim and the way his body was disposed of shows the cold-hearted and brutal nature of the defendant. According to Fox News, DNA testing later confirmed that the remains were that of Hernandez, a former resident of Hempstead.
Investigation Shows
Mann and Hernandez became acquaintances in March 2019, according to investigators. Hernandez also went to Mann’s Centereach home, located on Jay Road, and stole his father’s truck car. the New York man drew Hernandez to a place known as the “Sand Pit” on June 2, 2019, where he duct-taped Hernandez and hit him repeatedly with a blunt object, prosecutors said. He then placed Hernandez’s body in a hole on his property and hid it with debris.
The Skeletal remains were later transferred to a plastic tub and placed on his neighbor’s property, where they were finally located on March 15, 2020. Friday the New York man admitted his crime to first-degree manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence in court. He was charged with up to 20 years in jail when he was sentenced on April 19, Wednesday.
