Florida Woman Fiercely Fights Back At Apartment Complex Gym Attacker
A Florida woman elaborated on the frightening moments when she fought off an attacker in her apartment complex gym, and the whole thing was caught on camera. Nashali Alma, 24 years old stated that a man was approaching her. A video was posted to Instagram by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office of how the Florida woman fights back. Alma said that when the man started to touch her “I said, ‘Bro, what the Fuck are you doing? Get away from me. Stop attempting to touch me.’ He began chasing me around the bench, and we ended up on the other side of the gym.”
Deputies were called to the Inwood Park Apartment Complex in Tampa to investigate the assault on January 22. Alma details in the video that she was working out alone before she let the suspect into the gym. She told investigators she opened the door for him because he was someone she had previously noticed in the gym. As Alma continued her workout, the suspect, Xavier Thomas-Jones, 25, reportedly approached her and tried to grab her waist. She shouted at him, demanding he gets away from her, but he still continued to stalk her around the gym. Thomas-Jones then hold Alma and pinned her on the floor. She persisted to fight him off while trying to call 911. Finally, he released his hold on Alma, and she immediately escaped out of the gym to a nearby apartment.
Deputies Were Able To Track The Suspect And Currently Facing Multiple Charges
Deputies were able to track Thomas-Jones down and capture him less than 24 hours later. He faces charges of sexual battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping. Court records show posted by FOX 13 Tampa that Thomas-Jones lives at the apartment complex where the attack happened. Thomas-Jones allegedly admitted to restraining and battering Alma because he desired to have sex with her.
