Inflation relief checks will be available to Americans worth $235 million pot to distribute and only a few may apply.
Georgia’s Cash Aid program
Georgias’s cash assistance checks worth up to $350 as a one-time payment that was delivered to lower-income individuals in late September remain unclaimed. More than $1 billion in one-time payments was given and $235 million remains in unclaimed funds due to problems. The Georgia Department of Human Services confirmed there is still disorder around locating the client IDs and pointed to its FAQs on the department’s website.
Some people are still waiting on money promised by Gov. Brian Kemp’s office last year. Kemp launched the cash aid program on September 20 and intended to be given out to 3 million people. According to Kemp’s office, the financial support handouts, are intended to support people “cope” with the pandemic’s aftereffects and rapidly increasing inflation.
Who Will Be Eligible For The Cash Aid Program?
To be qualified, applicants must have been receiving Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, SNAP, or TANF services as of July 31, 2022. According to Georgia’s Department of Human Resources, those who enrolled in more than one of these programs will only be eligible for a single financial aid payment. Keep in mind that there is no deadline to claim the money.
Visit gateway.ga.gov and navigate to the “Check My Benefits – Case Selection” page if you’re uncertain about your eligibility. It will indicate if you and any other members of your family are eligible or not.
Eligible Georgia residents that ought to find a client ID or password reset must instead call the DHS Gateway help desk for support: 1-877-423-4746. DHS branch offices are also open and available for in-person support.
