According to a memo from the FSPS administration, some veteran Fort Smith Public Schools teachers will receive a one-time bonus payment that was approved in May with the updated teacher raise and salary schedule on Dec. 15 (TBP) The $1,500 bonus money intended to provide relief to veteran teachers who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who will Qualify for the $1,500 Stimulus Bonus
The Stimulus bonus will only be given to a handful of teachers in the school system. However, the incentives are available to all special education coordinators, instructional specialists, classroom instructors, interventionists, and adult education teachers. The administrator at the district level are not eligible for the $1,5oo bonus but Principals and assistant principals also qualify.
Moreover, the school board approved a new salary schedule, which includes annual salary raises, providing veteran teachers with a lower raise than new teachers. The average raise was $3,471.81, a 5 5.89% pay increase for the current school year. The payments come as inflation across the United States remains high amid the hectic holiday shopping season.
