The $10 Million Unclaimed Funds
On Tuesday, Treasurer Tobias Read announced that Oregon residents will receive a huge check of nearly $10 million in unclaimed funds that will be returned by summer 2023.
The unclaimed funds are part of the Checks Without Claims program that aimed to connect buried funds to their rightful owners.
When Will You Get The Funds?
In April this year, the distributing of funds will begin in February with the Treasury returning unclaimed funds that were reported to the state in 2018. Checks will be distributed to every documented owner who unclaimed their funds according to the report in 2019.
In 2020 it was confirmed that the final disbursement of unclaimed funds will be sent out in June.
How Much Can You Claim?
Ranging from $50 to $10,000 is the anticipated amount can claim of that Oregon residents. Those owners of unclaimed funds are determined to receive a letter containing information about the payment. Around 372 residents in Eugene will be sent worth $153,000.
Furthermore, Treasury is currently keeping the $ 1 billion in unclaimed funds, and only $10 million will be returned to the owners for now.
