California’s Middle-Class Tax Refund

The Middle-Class Tax Refund has already begun sending payments, however many people still wondering where their payments are. The state has previously stated it will wrap up the $9.5 billion refund program by the middle of  January. So far, 15,414,790 payments have been sent to eligible taxpayers via direct deposit or debit card. As of December 23, Franchise Tax Board claimed that a further 2.6 million beneficiaries were still in the works.

Here’s How To Determine Your Eligibility And Receive Payment

To determine if you qualify tax refund you must file the 2020 tax return by October 15, 2021, and meet the California adjusted gross income (CA AGI) limits described in the What you may receive section. You must be a California resident for six months or more of the 2020 tax year and at the time the payment is made, you should be a resident of California.

Click ftb.ca.gov/myftb to create an account and check your MCTR status, know that the registration portal for individual taxpayers was scheduled to be down for “system maintenance” until 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 3. Once you’re registered with an FTB account, you can utilize the online chat mechanism to have an agent verify your MCTR status.
