The Rochester Teachers Association in New York voted overwhelmingly by 80 percent to approve a three-year bonus check contract with benefits on Tuesday.

Between $1,500 to $3,000 Worth Of Bonus Check This 2023 And The Other Benefits

New York, offers bonuses worth up to $3,000 along with other benefits as a way of saying thank you to employees of the Rochester Teachers Association and encouraging them to stick around. This initiative will take effect at the beginning of July 1 and until  June 30, 2025. During the first two years of the contract, each year will be a retention bonus of $1,500 and a maximum of $3,000.

News update from The Us Sun, Adam Urbanski, president of RTA, is thankful for the Negotiation Committee ” our Action Committee, and all RTA Faculty Representatives for their important role in achieving a successor contract that is beneficial for kids and fair to teachers,” he said in his statements.

In addition, salary wage increases are another major part of the deal. The minimum wage will generally increase by 3.8 percent during each year of the agreement, which is benchmarked to the average top-five largest paying districts in Monroe County, according to Urbanski.

Furthermore, during the school year of 2023 to 2024, those working in conducting in-service, proposal development, curriculum preparation, and testing administration will have their hourly pay boost from $35 to $39. That will be followed by another $4 increment during the 2024-25 school year.  Those employed at extended day programs will get wages increased to $45 during the 2023-24 school year, followed by $49 in the next school year.

Who Will Qualify For The Bonus?

To be eligible for the Bonus you must be part of the  RTA Teacher Bargaining Unit to receive the bonus based on the agreement.

They must be “actively employed” until the last day of each school year to be eligible for the retention incentive.
