The New Relief Bill

Bill 6A was recently signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis into law.  The new legislation will give drivers who use transponders to pay for tolls at least 35 times per month a 50 percent credit on their account. According to DeSantis, the toll relief is aimed at state residents but not at tourists.

DeSantis said in TheU.S.Sun News, that he had sworn to his people in Florida that he will develop additional ways to provide toll relief to every Florida household, hence, with the new law, people from Florida can keep more “money in their pockets”.

New Year New Toll Relief Bill

The program will start on January 1, 2023, and last till December 31, 2023. The Florida Department of Transportation estimates that in 2023, the typical commuter will save $400 as a result of the measure.

To quality, there is no such thing as registration or other actions needed to obtain credit. However, drivers who use Florida-based transponders for at least 35 toll rides during a calendar month will have the 50% discount added to their accounts the following month.

Additionally, drivers must have toll accounts that are still actively standing and drive two-axle vehicles. SunPass, E-PASS, and Lee-Way are examples of Florida transponders.
