One-time Christmas Bonus Check
City employees in Denver, Colorado, are set to have the $600 bonus by Christmas as the city council approved Monday amid a staffing shortage. The Bonus check is expected to be part of the 8,300 of the city’s roughly 11,000 employees, which will cost around $6 million.
According to Denverite, the council legislation is anticipated to apply to 5,700 employees, with incentives being handled independently by the Department of Human Services and the airport. The payment will come from savings that the city has amassed after failing to fill a certain position.
In response to the worker’s issue, some employees will earn double the overtime compensation, recruiting incentives temporary retention bonuses, and wage modification. Stephanie Karayannis Adams the Budget Director said that the money would go unspent otherwise, and not towards anything else. Employees who work Full-time and part-time are all eligible for the bonus, but those who were on call and worked less than 30 hours a week are not part of the bonus, according to the outlet. Law enforcement officials and the fire department are also not eligible, due to their agreements that dictate pay and bonuses.
The Bonus Will Release By Friday
Monday’s bonus is the second one that was approved by city lawmakers recently after Denver approved a $400 bonus last year for city employees that received the COVID-19 vaccine. Employees who worked in person at least half the time were paid more.
The new bonuses are set to go out on Friday, and not later than Dec. 30. Moreover, on January 31, money will be distributed to citizens throughout the state and individuals would be $750 while the married couples who filed jointly will receive $1,500.
