Netflix’s latest comedy-drama, “Beef,” was criticized for casting David Choe amid backlash for rape comments he made in a 2014 podcast, causing the series’ success to be overshadowed by controversy.
“Beef” star David Choe’s Rape Comments Resurfaced
In a video clip posted on Twitter by reporter Aura Bogado from an episode of a 2014 podcast, “Beef” actor David Choe detailed the alleged sexual assault and his intimate interaction with a massage therapist.
The actor said in the video clip that he tried to convince the massage therapist to have sexual intercourse with him; she answered “yes” with her eyes, and he proceeded to the assault, USA Today reported.
Although Choe immediately removed his podcast channel when he made headlines for the assault and his “rapey” behavior, which he admitted in some of his interviews, his career was already overshadowed by controversy.
