Matthew McConaughey has revealed that he and his longtime friend Woody Harrelson may be half-brothers, causing a stir among fans
Harrelson was born to Diane Oswald and Charles Harrelson in 1961.McConaughey made the revelation on an episode of the Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast, stating that the line between him and Harrelson has always been murky.
Their similarities were brought into question when McConaughey’s mother, a 91-year-old author, revealed that she knew Harrelson’s dad, who was a convicted hitman.
This prompted a family investigation into the matter, with McConaughey explaining that they did some math and found out that Harrelson’s dad was on furlough at the same time that McConaughey’s parents were in their second divorce. There were also possible receipts and places in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, meeting, or “knew” moment.
Although McConaughey and Harrelson have not yet taken a DNA test to settle the matter once and for all, it looks like it might not happen anytime soon. McConaughey explained that it’s a little harder for him to take the test because Harrelson is asking him to take a chance to go, “Wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?”

Despite the lack of DNA testing, their kids call each other Uncle Woody and Uncle Matthew, and their families often mistake them for each other in pictures.
The news has caused quite a stir among fans of the two actors, who have been friends for over 20 years and have worked together on projects like HBO‘s True Detective. However, it remains to be seen whether McConaughey and Harrelson are truly related, and it looks like the investigation may continue for a while.
