Air National Guardsman in Tennessee Is Arrested

The Department of Justice said in a press release, that an Air National Guardsman is facing federal charges after he attempted to apply at a nefariously-named site to work as a hitman to earn some extra cash on the side, in addition to his job in the military. Moreover, according to court documents, the Air National Guardsman needed some extra money to support his family.

The FBI alleges Josiah Ernesto Garcia, 21 years old and nicknamed himself  ‘The Reaper’, attempted to send his resume to a site called “Rent-a-Hitman” to apply for a job as an assassin. On Wednesday Garcia was arrested by an undercover agent at a park in Hendersonville, according to a news release.

The Air National Guardsman Was Using A Parody Site

A CBS news report stated that the domain is a parody site that presents fake testimonials from individuals who have declared to use hitman services. However, the Air National Guardsman was so hopeless for the extra cash, allegedly willing to engage in a murder-for-hire scheme worth $5,000 payment, and he seemed to be completely unaware that the site was a parody.

Garcia was desperate for money to support his family and started exploring contract mercenary jobs online in mid-February and it was during the search he came across the parody website. Garcia even stated on his profile that he would prefer to travel for work and would be willing to kill in his home state.

Originally the website was created in 2005 to advertise a cybersecurity startup, but the website failed, and over the next decade, yet obtained numerous inquiries about murder-for-hire services.
