Will California Gov. Gavin Newsom  Run For Presidency?

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, 55 years old, has been seen even before that Newsom would like to be the first. As a politician with Washington ambitions, and while no Democrat has ever jumped from the California governor’s mansion to the White House.

The Hill reported to Eric Schickler, a political science professor at the University of California, Berkeley said that “I sense that the governor is trying to leave his options open,” and he added that he thinks that California Gov. Gavin Newsom would not challenge Joe Biden for reelection. Moreover, Schickler also said that Building a national profile now, the most likely scenario where that comes to fruition is for 2028.

Schickler emphasized that he strongly believes that the governor would be a 2024 candidate unless Biden is somehow unable to run.

Daniel Schnur, a Republican-turned-independent political strategist, repeated these opinions, conveying that California Gov. Gavin Newsom is both “ambitious” and “impatient,” but “also very smart.”

Schnur a teacher at both Berkeley and the University of Southern California added that  “He comprehends that challenging a sitting president of his party is not going to be suitable for his political prospects. So if he plans to, he’ll wait another four years.”

If and when California Gov. Gavin Newsom will run as president, Schickler said a big “wildcard” will be Vice President Harris, who has her base of support and would be seen as Biden’s logical successor. That could create the two Californians’ friendly rivals in a future contest.
