Other Medicare Extra Assistance
Extra Help is a federal program that assists Medicare Part D beneficiaries with low income and limited resources in paying for prescription drugs.
“These programs are extremely important and have the potential to save people thousands of dollars per year,” says Erin Guay, paralegal and compliance officer at the Pennsylvania Health Law Project. Extra Help is worth about $5,300 per year if you qualify, according to the government.
If you are having difficulty affording your prescription medications, the Medicare Extra Help program, also known as the Part D Low-Income Subsidy, may be able to assist you. (To use Extra Help, you must be enrolled in either a Medicare Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan with prescription drug coverage.)
