Police say Joshua Goncalves-Radding, was driving under the influence of alcohol when he lost control and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to erupt in flames and leading him to face 17 criminal charges, including 4 counts of manslaughter.
4 Maine Maritime Students Were Killed Due To Car Crash
The 20-year-old driver of an SUV that stuck into a tree and burst into flames, killing four Maine Maritime students, was indicted on 17 charges including four counts of manslaughter.
Thursday Joshua Goncalves-Radding, from North Babylon, New York, was indicted by a grand jury after a lengthy investigation, he was speeding and under the influence of alcohol when crashed in Castine in December officials said.
The indictment states for the first time that investigators believe alcohol contributed to the fatal deadly car crash, and it also indicates the SUV was traveling between 106 mph and 111 mph before the accident.
Four of the seven Maine Maritime students in the vehicle who died are identified as Brian Kenealy, 20 years old, of York, Maine, Chase Fossett 21 years old, of Gardiner, Maine, Luke Simpson 22 years old, of Rockport, Massachusetts and Riley Ignacio-Cameron 20 years old, of Aquinnah, Massachusetts. Two other students, in addition to Goncalves-Radding, survived the crash but experienced life-threatening injuries, according to the indictment.

Joshua Goncalves-Radding faces several charges such as four counts of manslaughter, Goncalves-Radding was also indicted on five counts of aggravated OUI, two counts of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, three counts of driving to endanger and one count each of criminal speeding, forgery, and unauthorized use of a license.
