A federal district court in Washington ordered former Vice President Mike Pence to testify before the grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election on Tuesday.

Mike Pence To Testify Against Donald Trump

A federal judge has ruled that former vice president Mike Pence should provide testimony to prosecutors investigating President Donald Trump involving “wrongdoing” efforts to overturn the 2020 election results after their conversation the had before according to people familiar with the matter. However, the judge also ordered that Pence can remain silent from answering questions about topics that deal specifically with his role in Congress on January 6, 2021, when a formal tabulation of the presidential election results was interrupted by a violent pro-Trump mob, said the people, who testify and requested anonymity to discuss court proceedings that have not been made public.

The US District Court in Washington, DC, chief judge James Boasberg’s decision, which counts to more than a dozen victories for special counsel Jack Smith compelling witnesses to testify before the grand jury. It is unusual that it examines the vice president’s powers, as well as the separation of powers, but Pence still has the power to appeal. The ex-vice president expressed to his team that “evaluating the court’s judgment that the requirements of my testimony moving ahead are a subject of our review right now, and I’ll have more additional to say about that in the days ahead.”

Mike Pence Faces Pressure

In the lead-up to the congressional certification vote, Mike Pence faced tremendous pressure from Trump issue and his allies to obstruct lawmakers’ intention to validate Joe Biden’s win. As president of the Senate, Mike Pence was charged with presiding over the certification proceedings.

The investigators are probing the attack that had a great interest in Trump’s exchange talk with Mike Pence. Though Pence declined to testify prior to the House January 6 committee that investigated the insurrection, people in Trump’s orbit told the committee about a heated phone call discussion he had with Mike Pence the day of the attack in which he lobbed abuses at his vice president. Pence and Trump did not comment anything during the assault on the Capitol itself, in which multiple of Trump’s supporters angrily sought him out, and Mike Pence narrowly escaped the mass as he made his way out to the Senate floor.

In the book, Mike Pence stated that Trump told him in the days before the attack that he would inspire the hatred of hundreds of thousands of people because he was “too honest” to attempt to alter the outcomes of the election.
