A Massachusetts postal worker was sentenced in federal court in Boston for attempting to bribe a postal supervisor inside the car and sell them cocaine.
Massachusetts Postal Attempted To Bribe A Supervisor
According to the United States Attorney’s Office of Massachusetts, on Wednesday, a Massachusetts postal worker was sentenced in a Boston federal court after attempting to bribe his supervisor to include them to participate in a cocaine trafficking scheme. John Noviello, aged 61 years old, of Nashua N.H., was convicted to one day in prison and three years of supervised release for offering to pay his boss $1,750 per kilogram of successfully delivered cocaine,
According to the charging documents, Noviello, Massachusetts postal worker in Lowell, approached his boss on February 15, 2022, inviting their assistance in a scheme to divert postal packages suspected of holding cocaine. Noviello allegedly offered to pay the supervisor $1,750 per kilogram of cocaine successfully received from any diverted packages.
The US Attorney’s Statements
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, two days later, on February 17, 2022, Noviello allegedly left $850 in cash in a Dunkin’ bag, inside the supervisor’s car in an attempt to motivate the supervisor to approve the scheme. Noviello later said the envelope he offered to his boss was a great offer for starters, allegedly trying to convince the supervisor’s decision to not participate in the scheme.
The boss called the authorities who requested that they execute a controlled purchase with law enforcement. The boss bought from Noviello where the defendant allegedly sell cocaine approximately 3.7 grams worth $200. On May 11, the Massachusetts postal worker Noviello was charged with the bribery of a public official and the distribution of cocaine drug.
