Police are investigating a fatal car crash that left five Connecticut children killed in Westchester County, New York, but a 9-year-old boy managed to survive the crash, officials said.
16-Year-Old Driver Killed Five Kids
Five kids were killed in a fiery overnight car accident in New York, including the 16-year-old driver of the vehicle Nissan Rogue. the Westchester County Police Department said in a news release, stated the children were traveling on the Hutchinson River Parkway early Sunday morning when the Nissan Rogue they were driving in crashed into a tree and caught on fire.
Five children between the ages of 8 and 17 died in the crash, and four boys and one girl were killed in the crash. Although their names have not been released, a sixth child 9-year-old boy survived and was taken to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the 9-year-old was sitting in a hatchback/cargo space at the time of the crash and was able to flee through the rear of the vehicle. Police were able to determine that a 16-year-old driver of the Nissan Rogue. The 16-Year-Old Driver and all the five victims are all from Connecticut.
The Crash Occurred On Sunday Morning
The crash, which happened around 12:20 a.m. Sunday morning, was a single-vehicle accident, police said. Police could not say where the Nissan Rogue was coming from or where it was going and the incident remains under investigation.
