According to court documents, approximately 80 devices were seized in the Massachusetts child pornography case against Bradford Ferrick, 32.
According to federal prosecutors, a Massachusetts resident doctor allegedly used hidden cameras and had “thousands” of sexually explicit images and videos of children, including some of his patients.
Bradford Ferrick, 32, was arrested and is facing state and federal charges of child pornography possession following a three-month investigation that is still ongoing as law enforcement searches for missing hidden camera devices.
According to the federal complaint, on Feb. 14, investigators searched his family’s Winchester home and discovered hidden cameras in boxes and the bathroom, which was designed to look like a wall outlet.
According to court documents, there are two children in the home, ages two and three.
Ferrick allegedly purchased “numerous” hidden camera devices, none of which have been found as of March 14.
“It is alleged that one of the hidden camera devices, which was designed to be worn as a bracelet, was discovered to contain at least two secretly recorded videos of Ferrick administering medical exams,” according to court documents.
“It is alleged that two minors believed to be patients could be heard and, at times, partially seen in the videos.”
According to federal prosecutors, approximately 80 devices were seized from various locations in Massachusetts, and they are still being combed through.
According to the criminal complaint, Ferrick allegedly attempted to lock his iPhone and remotely wipe seized devices at least once.
Investigators seized 61 devices from his Winchester home during their first search on Feb. 13 and another 11 on Feb. 17.
External hard drives, computers, cellphones, a hidden camera system, and SD cards allegedly contained “thousands” of images and videos of child pornography, according to prosecutors.
“A preliminary review of some of the seized devices allegedly revealed images and videos depicting child pornography of victims appearing to be between the ages of six and eleven years old,” according to the U.S. According to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
Prosecutors claim that on February 21, investigators searched a separate Amherst, Massachusetts, home he was renting and discovered eight more devices, including the hidden camera in the bracelet.
Rachael Rollins, United States Attorney, urged members of the public to contact the FBI and set up this link for parents who have had contact with Ferrick.
“As a parent or guardian, there is no greater fear than the possibility of harm coming to your child,” Rollins said in a statement.
“We allege that this doctor, who held a position of trust with access to children, kept child sexual abuse material... We will do everything we can to determine the duration and scope of his alleged offenses and proceed accordingly and expeditiously.”
According to prosecutors, Ferrick began a Family Medicine residency with Baystate Health in July 2022, which included rotations at facilities in Greenfield, Deerfield, and Springfield, Massachusetts.
Baystate Health spokesperson Chalonda James issued a statement to the media saying the company is cooperating with law enforcement but cannot comment on pending criminal charges.
Ferrick has been on unpaid administrative leave from Baystate since mid-February, according to James.
Ferrick studied at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, between 2018 and 2022, before beginning his Massachusetts residency.
“The FBI arrested Dr. Bradford Ferrick, a resident doctor with access to children, who is now accused of extremely troubling behavior,” said Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division.
“This is a very active investigation, and we urge anyone with information to contact us; we are grateful to have been able to put a stop to Dr. Ferrick’s alleged conduct thanks to our close collaboration with our law enforcement partners.”
According to the Boston Globe, Ferrick was ordered detained until a detention and probable cause hearing on March 21.
If convicted, the charge of possessing child pornography carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
