If you’re curious how the Social Security Administration determines when your check is sent out, know that the day your check arrives depends on how long you’ve been a Social Security recipient and your birthday. The Social Security Administration normally sends out payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month and depending on your birth date.
If your birthday is dated between the 1st and 10th of the month, your payment will be given on the second Wednesday of the month. If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of the month, your payment will be given on the third Wednesday of the month. If your birthday is dated between the 21st and 31st of the month, your payment will be given on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Here’s the March schedule (PDF) for when you should get your Social Security payments and/or SSI funds:
- March 1: March Social Security Income payments.
- March 3: Social Security payments for those who receive both Social Security Income and Social Security or have received Social Security since before May 1997.
- March 8: Social Security payments for those with birthdates falling between the first and 10th of any presented month.
- March 15: Social Security payments for those with birthdates falling between the 11th and 20th of any delivered month.
- March 22: Social Security payments for those with birthdays falling between the 21st and 31st of any given month.
- March 31: April Social Security Income payments.
