Michigan Juvenile Prison Administrator Is Fired Due To Sexual Assault Of A 12-Year-Old Boy

Friday, Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility Deputy Director of Administration Mark Roland was fired after working at the facility since September. The dismissal of the Michigan juvenile prison administrator comes as officials investigate allegations that juveniles at the facility sexually assaulted a 12-year-old boy on Wednesday. State police are investigating and so far seven workers at the juvenile jail have been suspended.

The Ex-Michigan juvenile Prison Administrator  Was Surprise Of His Sudden Termination

Roland the ex-Michigan juvenile prison administrator expressed himself in the newspaper that the firing surprised him. He said that as of Thursday he was part of an improvement plan at Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility.  But when he came in Friday morning, county officials said his appointment was ending with no explanation. “I am just not sure what made them come to that decision,” Roland said. “My hope would have been that they would have kept the current team in place for consistency.”

In another action, Facility Director Brandon Barber was reassigned to a job elsewhere in the county Friday. Jackson did not provide his new position. Furthermore, Kirpheous Stewart, deputy director of operations, will fill Roland’s position in the interim, Jackson said. Melissa Fernandez, who is the county’s director for Juvenile and Youth Services, will substitute for Barber in the interim.
